These are offered by the Rev. William Flewelling of Proctor, WV for the end of Lent.
On Exodus 12:1-4, 11-14Assemble with the chosen lamb, the roasted lamb, each house. Bring near in readiness: the hour demands a forward eye.
Stand ready that we share the lamb completely, leaving naught. It is the hour of exodus, the marking to preserve.
So eat together of the lamb that, ready, we may rise and keep memorial this night as God leads us to life.
About the table spread for life, beneath the lintel’s mark, behold the Lamb is ready now: our Passover Desire.

CANTICA SACRA CCLXIV
On John 9:1-41Seeing we see not; blind and we now see him, for Jesus speaking cleanses our perception. Eagerly seeking, losing all defenses: Lord, we adore you.
All is confusion; many master reason, throb with contention over all believing. Who is disciple? Who are who follow? Lord, bring us nearer.
Out of the throes, through all official rabble, from the dissention, all the reeling passions, Lord we attend you. You it is we honor: Jesus, Beloved.
Once we were sure; now we aspire to know you. Jesus, our eyes – O cleanse them in your mercy! Seeing at last, we seek as you have sought us. Lord Jesus, lead us.

On Romans 8:6-11In the Spirit, all rejoice now; as the Spirit dwells within, in the mounting of your pleasure, O our God, we seek for you. In our Christ, we adore: we attend in full desire.
As you call us we respond now; as you lure our hearts we come to behold the wonder thrilling, all the tapestry of awe. God alone, Spirit blown: you exhaust our faintest dread.
Turning freshly to sublime life, in this certain beauty shown, O our God in you we savor every longing, yearning, hope. O our God, in your glow, we adore and offer all.

On Matthew 26:14 – 27:66In darkness stirs the strangeness of desertion, the lonely hour beyond the supper’s sharing. Into this darkness Jesus slowly stumbles: the lonely Savior.
That broken bread and cup of wine completed, he with their hymn descends into the garden, a shade of prayer and solitude and anguish: our longing Savior.
In silence at the brutal inquisition, the searching for some reason to deny him, where anger, fear, uncertainty abound – there, stands the Savior.
Alone among the mocking voices, Jesus feels lash, and thorns, the cross, sheer isolation until the solitary warrior rouse love, and victory win.
