Earlier post from 2012 here provides some groundwork for the liturgy of Ash Wednesday.
The following is the 2015 Hymn of the Day from Rev. William Flewelling.
On 2 Corinthians 5:20b – 6:10
Be reconciled in truth with God
by every means that comes to hand.
We do it all in Christ alone:
not knowing sin, was sin for us.
This reconciling grace attends
the breach of all by world’s intent.
We find in deep distress the whole
and wholesome resonating gift.
Discovering the lapse of ease
we suddenly emerge as full –
as broken, healed; by torment brought
into the lift oblation bears.
Now everything is in repair
and naught is left in vain for us.
This reconciling grace impends
upon our daily waiting fare.
LM Suggested tune: Ombersley
Rev. Flewelling also offers the following prayer on the gospel:
Matthew 6:1-6, 16-20
In the quiet of our hearts, O God,
the treasure of our lives is offered
in your sight.
For only in your sight, O God, is life
portraying those fair strands
that captivate our souls.
Become in us the bliss sublime
that in your secret care be found
the treasure of all joy.
